Prescribing versus Recommending Medical Cannabis

Prescribing versus Recommending Medical Cannabis

As written, SB 339 will not get cannabis oil to ANY patients, even those with intractable epilepsy. The “prescription” language is a fatal flaw. Doctors risk losing their DEA license to prescribe medicine if they break federal law in this way. That is why in states where medical marijuana is legal, doctors RECOMMEND cannabis.

This matter has been argued in federal court and has been decided. In order for patients to have access to medical cannabis, it has to be RECOMMENDED by a doctor and authorized by the State.
